Now that you have your fingerprint scanner, you are probably pondering, "Now what?". Don't worry, the setup process is fairly straight forward.  If you haven't purchased your scanner yet and aren't sure which one to buy, check out the Selecting the Right Fingerprint Scanner article. Also, we offer a couple scanners for sale at https://eftcreator.com/products.

Device Service Setup

EFTCreator requires a piece of software to be running locally on your workstation to communicate with the fingerprint scanner. This software is called the Device Service. There are two variations of this software, a 32-bit (x86) and a 64-bit (x86_64). The 32-bit version is only used if you have an i3 DigID Mini/Mini+ fingerprint scanner.  In addition to the Device Service, you also have to the appropriate drivers installed for your fingerprint scanner. I know it seems complicated, but don't worry. The Downloads page on eftcreator.com will walk you through this entire process and ensure you get all of the software that is required.

  1. Go to https://eftcreator.com/downloads
  2. Select No to the first option since you will need to download the device drivers.
  3. Select the fingerprint scanner that you have.
  4. Download and installed all required scanner drivers and software. Ensure that your run the executable(s) after downloading.
  5. Download and install the Device Service
  6. Reboot your computer

Here are the setup instructions for the different fingerprint scanners that we support:

Selecting a Plan

EFTCreator has numerous plans available to meet your needs. If you haven't subscribed to a plan yet, visit https://eftcreator.com/registration. There you will be walked through the process of selecting a plan and entering your credit card information in our 3rd party merchant vendor, Stripe. Once completed, you will be automatically redirected back to the Dashboard page.

Testing It Out

Hopefully by this point you have everything installed and running properly. You can easily test out by following these steps:

  1. Click the AFT eForm EFT button to start a new transaction
  2. Click the Fingerprints tab at the top
  3. Click the Capture All button at the top right
  4. At this point, you should be prompted to scan the fingerprints.
  5. Scan all fingerprints as requested.

You may practice capturing fingerprints as much as you would like. If you are on a pay-per-transaction plan, you will only be charged if you actually create and download the EFT. As long as you don't click the Create EFT, you won't be charged.
